Epithelial-mesenchymal Interactions during Odontogenesis

چکیده
Recently we reported ultrastructural observatlons which indicated that matrix vesicles were actual constituents of the intercellular organic matrix during embryonic tooth development (14). It is assumed that many of these matrix vesicles are involved in formative aspects of dentinogenesis or amelogenesis, two primary extracellular processes that occur during embryonic tooth formation The fractionation of matrix vesicles from carfilage by means of demineralization followed by collagenase dtgestion of the organic matrix and subsequent differential centrlfugation has been reported (1) and recently reviewed with respect

The Epithelial-Mesenchymal Interactions: Insights into Physiological and Pathological Aspects of Oral Tissues
In the human biological system, the individual cells divide and form tissues and organs. These tissues are hetero-cellular. Basically any tissue consists of an epithelium and the connective tissue. The latter contains mainly mesenchymally-derived tissues with a diversified cell population. The cell continues to grow and differentiate in a pre-programmed manner using a messenger system. The epit...
متن کاملSuccessful Reconstruction of Tooth Germ with Cell Lines Requires Coordinated Gene Expressions from the Initiation Stage
Tooth morphogenesis is carried out by a series of reciprocal interactions between the epithelium and mesenchyme in embryonic germs. Previously clonal dental epithelial cell (epithelium of molar tooth germ (emtg)) lines were established from an embryonic germ. They were odontogenic when combined with a dental mesenchymal tissue, although the odontogenesis was quantitatively imperfect. To improve...
متن کاملEpithelial-mesenchymal signalling regulating tooth morphogenesis.
Teeth develop as ectodermal appendages in vertebrate embryos, and their early development resembles morphologically as well as molecularly other organs such as hairs and glands. Interactions between the ectoderm and underlying mesenchyme constitute a central mechanism regulating the morphogenesis of all these organs. Tooth morphogenesis is an advancing process that is regulated by sequential an...
متن کاملDe novo induction of a gene product during heterologous epithelial--mesenchymal interactions in vitro.
Mesenchymal specification of epithelial cytodifferentiation and morphogenesis has been considered to be a general feature of various epithelial-mesenchymal interacting systems (e.g., salivary gland, mammary gland, feather, hair, and tooth morphogenesis). In contrast, we have demonstrated that a mesenchyme can be induced by a heterologous epithelium to synthesize in quantity a specific gene prod...
متن کاملFgfr2b mediated epithelial–mesenchymal interactions coordinate tooth morphogenesis and dental trigeminal axon patterning
Dental trigeminal nerve fiber growth and patterning are strictly integrated with tooth morphogenesis, but it is still unknown, how these two developmental processes are coordinated. Here we show that targeted inactivation of the dental epithelium expressed Fgfr2b results in cessation of the mouse mandibular first molar development at the degenerated cap stage and the failure of the trigeminal m...
